I finally have registered a domain name for Handmade Love. www.handmade-love.com
It seems that someone has the non hyphenated version already taken, but it is nowhere to be seen. That's ok, the hyphen works. It is still a work in progress, I havent the money right now to spend on a whole website, but wanted to get the name before someone else takes my ideas.
We are only about a month away from our transcontinental move, and so I havent done much crafting of stuff to sell, I have been trying to concentrate on Christmas presents for family and friends. After the holiday season is past and all our household goods arrive back home, I am planning on seriously getting down to crafting for a business.
Supposedly in my hometown they are talking about shutting down part of the historical main street on 1-2 sundays a month for local crafters to have booths. I want to participate in that for sure, if it takes off. They also have a local farmers market in the nearby metropolis once a week that I want to look into having a booth at. There are lots of prospects! I cant wait to really get into it all!

Froggin it.
This doesnt have a whole lot to do with actually making and selling my crafts but it is craft related.
Today I decided that I was going to rip out an afghan I made for my husband a couple years ago. It really was a disaster but it was the first thing I ever crocheted. The pattern said it would be something like 4'x6' and it ended up being 2'x8'. Yep my gauge was really off.
Anyway, it's been sitting around for a couple years and just today I decided I was going to rip it (ribbit-haha hence the Frogging it). Here's a tip for anyone who is ever going to attemt to take apart an afghan, make sure you roll the yarn into balls as you go along, instead of justmaking a huge pile of yarn. Yeah, now I'm left with a huge tangle of yarn, after my dog decided to climb into the pile and dig a bed. :)
Once I get it untangled I'm going to attempt to make it into a new better blanket. We'll see how it goes.

So I am finally giving in to the Blog thing. It's not something that was ever that attractive to me, but I wanted to create this one to keep a log of my new crafting business that I am trying to start. It's going to be called Handmade Love or Meghan's Handmade Love and it'll basically be everything that I love doing! I love crafts and making stuff, if I can make it I hate to buy it.
I also hate giving store bought gifts or gift cards to people. I would much rather create something original and unique for them. Not everyone that I craft for likes this, but it makes me happy most of the time.
Currently my family (DH and DD) are in a kind of transitional stage in our lives. DH is in the Army and we are stationed in Germany. But he is going to be seperating from the military in December and we will be coming home to Utah. It's terrifying because he's not sure he'll have a good job yet, but it will be so wonderful to be home and around family. Having my first child and going her first 2 years thousands of miles away from my family and friends is not something I ever envisioned myself doing. It's not something I enjoyed, the being thousands of miles that its... I really want my DD to know her family.
Anyways, I want to start a crafting business, even if it is just on the internet for a while. My DH is getting me a new sewing machine for my bday in Oct, to replace my yard sale 70 year old relic that I use currently . I am so excited to have a new fancy machine!
Well, that's all for now, the almost 2 y/o needs me! Dinner needs making, and I'm sure I need to find something to craft tonight! :)
